| Thanks to DJ Brian Lampton for providing the music at the November Membership Meeting. If you are ever in the need of the services of a DJ, Brian can be reached at 427-8444. |
Thank you to Donna Jordan and her son, Trevor, for donating the National Movie Month Sign to the FPACA. Donna worked at the theatre before it closed--sometimes in the ticket booth—sometimes in the concession stand. One day Mr. Chakeres asked for volunteers to help clear out the storage area behind the stage. As payment for their efforts, the volunteers were told they could choose one of the items that was being “cleared out.” Donna chose the sign with the idea that one day she would decorate a room in her house with a movie theme. She planned for the vintage sign to become a focal point in her decorating. As time went by, however, the “movie theme” room never came to be. Therefore, she generously donated the sign to us. The sign will be on display at the theatre during Fairborn Heritage Days, June 27 and 28, 2009. |

The picture shown is an original water color by Penny Perkins Holder. Penny is a 1954 graduate of Fairborn High School. She now resides in Georgia, but still has many fond memories of the old Fairborn Theatre. She has very generously given the FPACA sole permission to reproduce her picture for sale, with the proceeds going to the restoration of the theatre. For those who may not be familiar with “old” Fairborn, the landmarks depicted around the old traffic circle are; left to right, top to bottom:
Foy‘s Variety Store, Fairborn High School, Old Fairfield Fire Department, Methodist Church, Bailey’s Service Station, Ye Olde Trail Tavern in Yellow Springs, former Post Office (now the Library), Southwestern Cement Plant, the old First National Bank (now U.S. Bank), Skyborn Drive In Theatre, Osborn Train Depot, Skating Rink, Fairborn Theatre, Mercer House Log Cabin, and a sign for Giovanni's Pizza.

| The pictures are 8” X 10”, sell for $10.00 unframed, and $25.00 matted and framed. The pictures make really good gifts, are great conversation pieces, and are also a very nice addition to any home or office. If you would like one of Penny’s pictures, contact either Raleigh Sandy at (937) 885-1868 or Fred Pumroy at (937) 878-7257. The pictures may also be purchased at the FPACA booth during various festivals around town, i.e., Fairborn Heritage Days, Corn Festival, Downtown 4th of July Festival, etc., and at the theatre when there is an open house. If you live out of town and would like one of the pictures, our address is FPACA, P.O. Box 564, Fairborn, OH 45324.
